A green lung near Empoli: the Protected Natural Area of Arnovecchio is a place suitable for those who love to be in contact with nature in a real mosaic made by different habitats between plants and animals, expecially birds.
Located in a ancient alluvial area of the Arno river, between Empoli and Fibbiana, easily accessible by car. In the area of the former Pierucci Quarry, a nature trail has been created, equipped with facilities for the observation of wild plants and animals.
Suitable for adults and children, the itinerary is also accessible for disable people – with physical or visual impairments – in fact, in addition to four fauna observatories there are illustrative signs and tactile panels with habitats, plants and animals in relief and texts in Braille.
The area is managed by the Padule di Fucecchio Research, Documentation and Promotion Centre, open to the public and also organising guided tours, scheduled by a calendar.
