The childhood house of Ferruccio Busoni (1866-1924), famous pianist and composer, can be found in the central Piazza della Vittoria in Empoli. The 19th Century building houses the Ferruccio Busoni Centre for Musical Studies and the museum dedicated to this extraordinary musician.
Visitors can find portraits, photos and objects relating to Busoni’s activities including the piano, donated by the family, upon which it seems he practised. There is also a marble bust by the sculptor Antonini and numerous manuscripts, original libretti and some autographs.
Every year, between January and April, the Busoni Centre organises an interesting concert season with high quality programmes and with famous orchestras and soloists.
